The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D Is Now Available For Nintendo 3DS

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D has been unleashed for Nintendo 3DS. Available now in stores and via the Nintendo eShop, the remastered version of the Nintendo 64 classic includes enhanced 3D graphics and added features for a smoother experience. The game opens with a masked Skull Kid dragging Link into the world of Termina, where the moon is falling from the sky.

As Link, players have three days to save Termina from the apocalypse by manipulating time to solve puzzles, collect treasure and battle bosses – all within 72 in-game hours. Players also have the ability to slow down, speed up and restart the clock as needed through songs performed on Link’s ocarina. Users who choose to play the game on the newly-released New Nintendo 3DS XL will have access to additional features, like the ability to control the camera with the C Stick.

        1. Yes. They were supposed to. My city was on Wednesday, I called several stores to make sure. Then Thursday night rolled around and no Gamestop in my city got any extra games or New 3DS’s. Not a single store in my entire city, trust me I tried and checked that night. I drove everywhere.

Many of the stores that told me they were going to do midnight release were going to close early because they didn’t recieve any extra stock. Most those stores weren’t open at all, even when they told me Wednesday they were going to be at 9pm to midnight.

They had nothing to sell though, so there wasn’t any reason for them to stay open. The amount of stock Nintendo is sending out is a complete joke as usual and since the whole postal debacle, you can really see how Nintendo under ships things now.

I barely skated by this morning and managed to get a black one. If I had been 10 minutes late to Target, I would’ve been screwed. Since Target only got a total of 10, and only a total of 5 copies of MM and MH4 each.

  1. Friday release dates suck ass. With the shitty customer service these days, I never get anything until the following week.

    1. Good luck, since they’re barely getting any. Better make sure to get there real early because of this Gamestop fiasco, them having none. I can almost bet everyone is going to run to Target and Walmart tomorrow considering most Gamestops midnight launch was a complete failure courtesy of Nintendo. Hell my entire city didn’t get any extra games or 3DS’s to sell outside of pre-orders, total garbage.

Thanks to scalpers, no store will even tell you anymore how many they’re getting in either. This crap is maddening.

I can see it now, it’s going to be Rosalina all over again. I just hope I’m close enough in line to get one.

        1. I am blaming Nintendo, constantly. The amount of bullshit they’re putting people through in order to buy their products, is absolutely ridiculous. People can blame scalpers all they want, but if Nintendo wasn’t under shipping everything so badly, it wouldn’t be a problem even with scalpers.

Scalpers aren’t even an issue anymore. It has gotten so bad, stores won’t sell more than one, even if your in a group. Not only that they will not even tell you how many the stores are getting. Gamestop, Walmart, Bestbuy and Target are all doing the same thing now.

So people can’t try to put the blame on these retailers anymore, they’re doing the best they can considering the crap Nintendo is putting them through. I’d hate to work at any of those stores right now because of this.

Not including the outdated system transfer nonsense you have to go through also.

They sure as hell make sure Japan is never low on stock… Bastards.

  2. Playing it now. As much of times I’ve played majoras mask, 64, and many other redownloads. I can say that this has a brand new feel to it and I’m liking it very much

    1. It won’t work, lui. I’ve sent more ideas to Nintendo throughout the years than I can count. And they always rejected me. When I was younger, I even sent giant sheets of constructtion paper to them, with written descriptions/drawings of my ideas. And they nearly always sent them back, saying that they can’t take unsolicited game ideas etc etc.

Once in a while, they’d tell me that they sent my ideas/suggestions to a different department for further review. But I think that’s just their nice way of saying, “we tore it up”.

  3. I’ll eventually buy this. But right now, amiibos have raped me of my money. Might buy it in March. Has anyone else received the official Reggie Mii via spot pass? I just did. He’s wearing the Epona hat.

    1. This means the Skull Kid bundles are leaving warehouses hopefully*. When I asked the folks at GS, I was told it would be a few days after due to the item being shipped to my Home. I can wait : ). But it’s gonna be so sweet.

  4. Woke up with a pretty big tipi this morning stab my ole lady in the back she asked if that was for her I replied I was dreaming of the new 3ds then she’s say to me I’m so wet now. Nintendo is even bringing us closer in the bedroom. I also ordered my new zelda edtion 3ds from gamestop last month on the 14th, and I received two emails yesterday stateing they would be here tomorrow . which is today. Which seems odd since I opted for the regular shipping . They told me it’d be about a week till after release date I

    1. Tell me about. I’d put money on it every store is completely sold out right now.

I wouldn’t even order this crap knowing what a mess this is, they’ll probably just cancel a lot of them again like every other store has been. Considering I just came from Target and saw first hand how little they got in store, I don’t even know how the hell they’re already selling more online.

Well I guess that confirms my judgement. Obvious they barely had any to sell online as well. Already sold out, within the minutes of me typing this. All to create the illusion of them selling a lot, when in reality they aren’t any to sell is the problem. That’s why they’re selling out so fast, not because of demand.

Lol. Fucking Nintendo, I swear. God damn, the PS4 at launch was easier to get than this crap and that was sold out everywhere too, but at least Sony was prepared and had a lot of shipments.

      1. Meh, I’m beating a dead horse I suppose. I think I’ll just drop it, been bitching enough about this as it is. I just can’t help it though when the only people I have to deal with crap like this, is with Nintendo.

        1. Like you, I’ve also been arguing about Nintendo being the problem, not so much the scalpers, for understocking. And Nintendo does it on purpose to gain attention from potential consumers. Imagine, people rage about the MM 3DS, and then people start to hear about it, and more popularity for Nintendo.

      1. No I didn’t get it sorry. when I couldn’t get my hands on the MM 3ds I just decided to wait. I’d recommend checking some review sites for some in depth talk on it’s 3d effects.

        1. Never mind, thanks anyway. The depth of the 3D effect is the same. Now, a new thing came up. I saw a forum where somebody shhowed a screenshot comparison of MH4U where the texture and shadows were much better on the New 3DS compared to the older one. I wonder if it’s the same with Majora’s Mask 3D.

Take a look at this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=975221

          1. interesting. I’m sure that MM will look better than OOT. but if you don’t want to take my word for it watch some comparison videos on youtube or twitch.

            1. Yeah, well OoT3D already looked amazing to me, I think some people didn’t like the graphics…maybe it’s cuz I own an original 3DS and the graphics are sharper, idk. Anyway though, I’m sure Majora’s Mask must look better. My small concern is the depth of the 3D, cuz I do know that after OoT, games have been using less and less of the 3D effect. Whatever, I’m thinking of picking up MM3D regardless.

Interesting thing, I was gonna write the game off cuz of the changes they made, but after replaying OoT3D, I fell in love with the 3D and graphics again, combined with popping in MM again and looking so blurry, I decided to get MM3D. Cuz I appreciate the artstyle, details and the 3D.

              1. that’s cool. I just downloaded the wii port of MM because of the mm 3d changes that were made. I’m sure it’s good in it’s own right though, I just didn’t want to pay $40 dollars to play game that I could buy for ten. but I’m sure i’ll get the 3ds version at some point. you’ll have to let me know if it’s as good/better than the oot remake.

                1. Definitely will. I was thinking just like you, why dish in $40 for something I already have, and with all those changes made. I popped in my Gamecube collector’s edition, started off in Clock Town, and on my HD TV….I saw a mess…it was kind of hard to look at, actually. It probably didn’t look as bed before cuz last time I played it, it wasn’t on an HD TV. MM on VC probably looks better though, I’m playing a bad port, plus it’s straight off my Gamecube on an HD TV.

I’m a hardcore gamer, and as much as I hate the changes made in MM 3D, the game art is also a big deal for me.

                      1. it’s awesome. I’m not a huge skull kid fan but I do like the darker themes that this one tackles and the characters like the happy mask salesman! I still like wind waker better though.

                      2. I like Skull Kid and the environment in general, cuz I like that weirdness more. I love Wind Waker, I played it on my Gamecube before. It’s the most adventurous game I’ve ever played. Taking charge, setting off from an island, exploring, seeing the island get smaller or bigger. I’m one of those people who could sail a long time and not get bored. It feels like real life (not a fan of super sail, even though I don’t have WW HD). All you see is the blue ocean for a long time, boat creaking, exploring uncharted territory. I also love the stealth, you can control a seagull–MAN. That game.

                        My top Zelda games.

                        1. Skyward Sword – The fighting mechanics are just amazing. Wish it was less linear though.

                        2. Wind Waker – A feel of exploration like no other –Just set sail for any island, go in a coffee shop!

                        3. Twilight Princess – Ahh, so vast, so much to see and do.

                        4. Majora’s Mask – Love the weird concept, the darkness, the place.

                        5. Ocarina of time – Classic. Probably the first Zelda I played…in like 2004 or something, haha.

Then there’s the DS ones I played, but this is my top 5. Some of these have to do with nostalgic memories, but the combot in Skyward Sword beats them, cuz it’s so good, and such a departure from normal Zelda combat. I do hope we can have that same strategic combat in Zelda U.

                        1. excellent list! mine would probably

                          1. wind waker- the colorful world and flawless soundtrack mixed with exploration has made it one of my top five favorite games of all time, although I’ve only played the HD version

                          2. Majoras mask -there is just so much mystery that surrounds the game and the race against time added a level of suspense that the other games in the series just haven’t matched for me

                          3. ocarina of time- you said best “classic”

                          4. skyword sword- I still haven’t finished so I won’t judge it harshly although I’ve had trouble adjusting to the wii mote and nun chuck gameplay, the fighting is way better with the motion controls but everthing else feels/seems to suffer as far as gameplay

                          5. Twilight princess- I haven’t got it yet but I want to before the new zelda comes out

I think for the new zelda it would be awesome to switch back and forth with motion controls at the touch of a button, that way the camera would work like normal zelda games and the movement and exploration as well, but the battles those need to be fought with motion controls for sure!

                        2. That’s a great list, and you explanations are much better, I was being kinda lazy to be honest. I like your tastes, haha. We have all the same games on our lists, just different orders. I agree what you said about what the new Zelda should be like. I agree about Skyward sword having great controls, but lacking everywhere else. Nintendo focused so much on the motion control, that nothing else was their focus. Luckily, they’re really focusing on the world and open world exploration, and let’s hope the combat is as important as Swyward Sword, motion controls if possible.

Since you haven’t played Twlight Princess yet, let me give you a taste of my thoughts: You’ve played Ocarina of Time before, so you’ll see that TP is modernized OoT. It is heavily inspired from OoT, and almost everything in the game, will seem like an evolution from OoT. It isn’t quite the revolutionary game as opposed to anything the other titles achieved, but it’s still really good. The game’s longer than your average Zelda game. Along with the realistic graphics, the combat feels nice and realistic too, because when you hit an enemy with your sword, it’s as if you can feel the weight of the sword (at least for me). If you’re a collector and completionist, you’ll be happy to know that on your side missions, there’s many things to collect scattered across the huge world. For example, you collect bugs, poes, heart containers etc. Though unnecessary, I find that having Ocarina of Time fresh on your mind when you start playing Twilight Princess is good, because a lot of your satisfaction might come from running into many things that are similar to Ocarina of Time and saying, “Hey, they improved this so much!”.

                          1. cool thanks for the input! hey if you have a wii u you should add me I don’t play online a whole lot but I’m always playing on weekends. my NN ID is DarthDerek501st.
